Monitoring SNMP Traps
SNMP Traps are a widely supported mechanism by which network Devices send out a message (Trap) when they detect an error.
You'll find that most network devices, such as routers, printers, switches, PC Diagnostic software, temperature sensors, and hubs, are capable of sending SNMP Traps. For example, a router may send an SNMP Trap when one of its interfaces is down, or a printer may send an SNMP Trap when its toner level is low.
Serio IT Service View can detect SNMP Traps, and respond by taking actions such as sending you an email, changing the Display Status of the Device to Amber, or running a program.
