Adding Property Definitions to your Plugin

Note: The steps described here are part of whole process of creating a Plugin. This process is described in full in the Roadmap.

Property Definitions enable users of your Plugin to configure how the Plugin will work.

For example, you can use Property Definitions to define threshold limits such as maximum acceptable response time, minimum throughput etc. Within your Plugin, you can then define how Serio IT Service View should respond when it detects these thresholds are breached.

By publishing such threshold values as Property Definitions, users will be able to adjust the threshold values up and down according to requirements.

Tip: See the standard Plugins provided with Serio IT Service View for examples of Property Definitions.

To add Property Definitions to your Plugin,

  1. Right click on your Plugin in the left pane of Serio IT Service View and choose 'View/Amend Plugin'.

  1. Switch to the 'Property Definitions' tab page.

  1. Right click in the 'Device Properties' list and choose 'Add New Device Property Definition'.

  1. In the 'Device Property' dialog, enter the details of your Device Property. For examples, see the standard Plugins provided with Serio IT Service View.

  1. When finished adding Device Properties, click 'Save and Close' to save your changes.
