Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to install anything on the Windows 2003/2008 computer I want to
monitor?
A: No. This Plugin will work perfectly well without any additional software
on the server by using something called WMI. You can use SNMP by installing
the Serio Inventory Agent, but most users will use WMI.
Q: Can I change the parameters that are used - for instance, can I set my own
limits for free RAM?
A: Yes. As with all Plugins this is done through Properties. Use the wizard
mentioned above and it will prompt you for this kind of information.
Q: What kind of things can I do in response to an error?
A: You can send emails, but also a bunch of other stuff as well, like: running
a program (to fix the error or liog a support ticket), restart a Windows service,
start or stop a Process, or reboot the machine. IT Service View calls these
Responses, and the wizard mentioned above will take you through the process
of defining your Responses.
Q: Can I log this data?
A: Yes you can. Once the wizard has finished, edit the Device and go to the
Data Logging tab.
