Release 5 Upgrade FAQ

Q: So where is the software then?
A: Well, it's not here! The Release 5 software is for customers with a valid support contract. If you have such with us, then we will send you an email on or around the 28th April which explains how to access the software.

Q: I'm scared. Does it go wrong often?
A: Not really, just follow the instructions carefully. The most common mistakes are:

- Forgetting to upgrade all server applications, so that (for example) SerioWeb users can't log-in anymore.

- Losing your new Serio sofware so that the client applications can't be installed.

Q: I really want to run Serio as an NT Service. Can I configure this at the same time as I upgrade?
A: Don't do that! It's much better to simply get the upgrade out of the way and use the new software for a while - then you can think about making changes to the way SerioServer runs.

Q: If some clients are not upgraded, will I create instability?
A: Provided you fully upgrade your server the answer is no. Do not leave 4.6 software on your server. If someone tries to connect to a Release 5 server with 4.6 software Serio will not allow the connection.

Q: I really want to try SerioClient Express. Where do I found out how to set that up?
A: It's documented in the HowTo guide. If you want, do it straight after your upgrade.
