Service up notifications

Hello,

I am in the process of evaluating your software. I downloaded the free version of the monitoring solution and setup a pilot group as a precursor to purchasing the PRO version but I have a few questions.

I assume there is not much difference between the two versions but if there are I'd like to understand them.

I have setup the program to alert me on several conditions and it seems to work great but I was wondering if there is a way to get the software to alert me when the condition that caused the alert is resolved? I think that is the only area that is giving me pause for concern.

Thanks in advance.

You just need to edit the plugin...

Hi

It doesn't do it now, but will in the future. If you want to have it now you just need to edit the plugin - basically, add a new Response, and a single line of Plugin code.

If you want me to talk you through this let me know.

Ray

I would appreciate the steps if you could

Where in the plugin do I need to modify this? And I assume it is for each device so I have to go back through each and modify them or is there a central area I can change it?

I haven't coded in a long time so if it's something in the code I may need additional information

Thanks for the response and thanks in advance for any guidance.

Rick

Also, when will that be built into the product (anticipated release date?)?

Here's the updated plugin

Rather than get you to edit the plugin, I did it myself.

I didn't ask (I should have done) but I've assumed you are using the Windows Plugin. If you are indeed using that, you can get an update here:

http://www.seriosoft.com/resource/Windowsupdate.zip

All you need to do is this:

1. Download and unzip the plugin.

2. Delete your existing Windows 2003/2008 Plugin (just delete the Plugin, don't edit any Devices).

3. Right click on the 'Mib modules and plugins/IT Service View windows/Plugins' node in the treeview, and choose 'Import plugin from file'. Import the plugin.

That's all.

If you want to take more control over things, you can define specific emails for the new Response (On Service Up). There is also a Property you can set that controls the message you are sent when the service comes back up.

Important: No 'Service Up' Response will be generated WRT disc space. This is becuase Disc space notes are 'information only' and don't have a 'Service Down' event to mirror.

Service UP

Thanks Ray, I'll give it a try today.

Have a great day.

serio Script error at line 106

I downloaded http://www.seriosoft.com/resource/Windowsupdate.zip per your answer to "Service up Notification" solution and now trying to save the plugin it comes up with serio script error at line 106. I redownloaded the file and same results. I tried to add the old plugin back in and same error message.

Any ideas.
